You cannot predict what you will love from the outside. Even you find out only by listening.
That independence is the gift: nothing gets in on reputation, so everything that gets in is real. The failure mode is reflex, a no that arrives before the listening does. Your best finds are the ones that beat your scepticism fairly, and they are the ones you end up defending hardest.
