Emerging from the Philadelphia freak-folk scene as a founding member of Espers, where she served as lead vocalist and guitarist, Baird has since collaborated with Mary Lattimore, Kurt Vile, Will Oldham, and Sharon Van Etten while co-founding the acid-folk outfit Heron Oblivion alongside Charlie Saufley and Ethan Miller of Comets on Fire. Her solo work threads together British and Appalachian folk traditions with the exploratory spirit of 1970s cosmic folk and West Coast psych rock. Albums like Don't Weigh Down the Light and Furling expand sparse acoustic foundations with organ, 12-string guitar, mellotron, and harp, creating hypnotic, circular journeys that feel like private journals set against vast, reverberant landscapes.
