First album in three years, it aches with punchy Midwestern twang, stitching fragmented melodies from arbitrary sources into lovelorn ballads that flicker with delicate detail. Vocals by Lindsay Anderson and Joseph Costa weave poignant ironies, as in the a cappella chorus of "So Surprise." Standouts like "Sleepless Night" and "It Follows Me Around" bloom from processed rings into grand crescendos, capping with the hopeful pulse of "A Day Between." Softly sexual, irresistibly alluring.
